In Victoria you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that there are public washrooms all over the place. While you may not be a fan of a public washroom, sometimes you can’t go without. Whether you need one for a day out of the home or if you have kids that may need to use it often, you need to know where they are located.
In addition, the elderly and those with urinary problems have no choice but to be in reach of a washroom. Instead of wondering where you can find them when you are ready to use them, use this guide to be prepared for the day in Victoria and have an idea of where they already are.
List of public washrooms
To be prepared, take note these public washrooms in downtown Victoria:
- On Broughton Street you can use the washroom at the Greater Victoria Public Library
- At the James Bay Fisherman’s Wharf there is a washroom. It’s just south of downtown
- Near City Hall, there’s a public washroom at Centennial Square
- The largest downtown shopping centre has one at The Bay Centre
- Langley Street was voted Canada’s Best restroom. It’s near Bastion Square and is a very nice European-styled washroom with hand-washing facilities
- The play area at Beach Hill Park has a washroom
- Although they have long lines, there is an old standby under the Tourist Information Centre at the Inner Harbour
- For men only, there is a green tubular designed male urinal at Pandora Avenue and Government Street near McPherson Playhouse
Knowing in advance where public washrooms are located will make traveling through Victoria much more accommodating, especially since not all restaurants, fast food stores, or hotels will allow you to use theirs unless you are a current customer.
Whether you are trying to spend a day at the park with the kids or spend time shopping, there are plenty of places to go for a nice washroom. The city spent $90,000 on just one of them so they are making them cleaner, newer, and more pleasant to use.
