History

Back in 1894, John Murchie immigrated to Canada from Scotland. John had started his career in tea as just a young boy when he worked for Melrose’s of Scotland. He delivered tea to Queen Victoria when she was in the Scottsdale Highlands at Balmoral Castle.

Over time, John learned all he needed to know about the different types of tea and he even began to experiment on his own. Once John landed in New Westminster, BC in 1894, his first thought was to set up a tea shop and deliver only the finest quality teas to his discerning customers.

John’s next big step was to move on to coffee. His dedication led him to be one of the first to import 100% Arabica beans. He began creating signature coffee blends to suit every coffee drinker’s tastes. In his later years, he began creating his own spice blends and hot chocolate blends, as well. He even has some scone and biscotti mixes available so you can bake up a quick treat to go along with your coffee or tea.
