Holidays

While the holidays are a magical time of year, they truly bring on a great deal of stress. You have to get everyone on your list the perfect present, there are extra events going on and the weather isn’t always great. It can be expensive, overwhelming and of course stressful.

When you have a scheduled packed with holiday parties, malls packed with too many people and you feel like there’s no end in sight, try one of these activities around Victoria to relieve the stress and take a break.

Get Active

One of the most underused forms of stress relief is exercise and yet it’s one of the most effective. Rather than picking up another Christmas cookie and turning on another Christmas movie, try getting a workout to release some endorphins. Victoria has some amazing trails and running along Dallas Road is a great way to enjoy the beautiful ocean views.

Do a little yoga to make your mind feel at ease or try an outdoor fitness circuit for some strength training. You could even grab a group of friends and go bowling or try a fitness class together; anything to get you moving and having fun.

Finding Your Zen

Sometimes all you need is to turn your phone off and get away from the noise of the world. Working on breathing exercises, meditation and clear your schedule. Check out the Abkhazi Garden downtown for some beautiful peace and quiet. The beach is a great place to get back with nature and meditate.

Go out of town

Sometimes just leaving home for a few days is the perfect way to recharge. Try the trails at East Sooke or take the ferry to the Gulf Islands.

Hit the Spa

You may just need a great massage and some time in a pool. Check out Willow Stream Spa for the sauna or SORA spa for a massage. The Spa at Delta Victoria is a great choice for their atrium enclosed pool.

Lastly, check out some wonderful Christmas performances to bring you back to a relaxed state of mind. The Advent Carol Service at the Christ Church Cathedral is a wonderful experience. Enjoy their Christmas Carol Singers while sipping on hot chocolate.
