Fisherman's Wharf - Image Credit: the best local spots isn't always easy when you move to a new area. Locals have spent years learning their city and finding the perfect places for food, shopping and fun. Plugging yourself into Victoria after relocating requires a sense of curiosity, if you want to find the best kept secrets in the city.

One of those secret areas not everybody is familiar with is Fisherman's Wharf. This is a unique destination with food, shops, tours and more. You can enjoy a great lunch of fresh seafood right off the boat, enjoy the vessels as they come in and leave or just spend time shopping throughout the area. Some of the places you can get your seafood at include:

  • The Fish Store & More
  • Hi Gear Crab Sales
  • Moka House Coffee & Bistro
  • Barb's Fish & Chips
  • Grilligans BBQ
  • Jackson's Ice Cream

There are also three great areas for marine adventures you can enjoy. Whether you want to enjoy whale watching, kayaking or a pirate adventure, you can find a place to serve your needs. Fisherman's Wharf is home to the Kelp Reef Kayaking company, Pirate Adventures and Eagle Wing Whale Watching. These three adventure companies will help you enjoy more of this marine area.

Floating Homes

Have you ever seen a village full of homes floating on water? At Fisherman's Wharf, you can enjoy The Float Home Village. This is a unique place to live and to enjoy. If you've ever wanted to feel like you're a part of something incredibly unique, this is the place for you.

You won't be alone at Fisherman's Wharf. This area is full of great wildlife and if you're lucky, you can enjoy all kinds of different animals. Birds of all kinds including Eagles, seabirds and others call the Warf home, along with otters and seals.

The Wharf is found around the corner from Victoria's Inner Harbour and is about a ten-minute walk from the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal. Paid parking is available and bike racks are also found throughout the area.
