Did you know Victoria is full of haunted areas? This is the time of year to enjoy spooky and haunted places because it’s Halloween time. From parks to buildings, check out these areas in Victoria to celebrate the spooky season.
Hatley Castle
Hatley Castle is located at 2005 Sooke Road in Victoria. It’s a national historic site full of beautiful gardens and amazing scenery. It’s 565 acre Edwardian estate and is believed to be haunted by the ghost of the former owners, the Dunsmuir family.
Rogers Chocolates - 913 Government Street
Located in Old Town, you can find National Historic Site Rogers Chocolates. It’s a haunted chocolate shop haunted by ghosts Charles and Leah Rogers. They were the founders of this oldest and most famous shop. They often slept in the kitchen and people believe their ghosts remain there.
Bastion Square and Helmcken Alley
Another spot in Old Town is Bastion Square and Helmcken Alley. Old Town is considered the most haunted part of Victoria. Just about every building around Bastion Square is haunted by ghosts, such as The Maritime Museum. It’s located in the old Supreme Court building on top of the site where the city’s jail once was. Men were hanged and buried beneath the foundation of The Maritime Museum.
Beacon Hill Park
Near downtown Victoria sits Beacon Hill Park. It is said to be haunted by the “Screaming Doppleganger” that can be seen on rocks near the corner of Superior and Douglas streets. She’s the ghost of a woman that was murdered nearby and is usually seen at sunrise.
