Victoria is the home of the first ever microbrewery in Canada, known as Horseshoe Bay Brewing. The city is also home to the first Canadian brewpub called Spinnakers. However, this is just the start of the growing craft beer scene in Victoria.

With Victoria Beer Week underway, the city gets to see even more craft breweries and brewpubs contributing to the scene. Eleven different brewpubs and breweries are on hand to show off their beers from Victoria. Over 40 local breweries from the extended area are also here for the event. Some of the things you may still be able to enjoy include:

  • Cask Nights with 20 casks from Vancouver Island breweries
  • Beer School - Learn all about beer and become more of an expert with craft beer from the area.
  • Free Homebrewing workshops
  • Free Art show display with all types of beer label creations
  • Ten new brews that have been released from BC breweries

You may even be able to catch a brewery tour, while the event is still going on. Of course, Victoria Beer Week also includes plenty of samples of the area brews.

Events Still Left for Beer Week

There are still a few very big events on hand for Victoria Beer Week. The Craft Beer Thunderdome will be held from 7pm to 10pm on Wednesday, March 11th, while the Film Screening will be from 7pm to 9:30pm on Thursday, March 12th.

You can also enjoy the Brewery Crawl or the Craft Beer Revolution on March 13th. The Homebrewers Workshop will be held on March 14th, along with New Brew Cruise, the Second Brewery Crawl and the Cooking With Beer class.

There's still time to get your tickets for the Closing Cask Night on March 14th and the Brewmaster's Brunch on March 15th, as well. For more information, visit the website at, http://victoriabeerweek.com.
