When you first arrive in Victoria, it may be a good idea to do a little sight-seeing. This will help you get acquainted with your new city. Here are some of the things you should check out as soon as possible.
Point Ellice House - 2616 Pleasant Street
This historic house provides a look at what Victoria is all about. It’s an Italianate villa that overlooks the Gorge Waterway and the Upper Harbour. If you're looking for a romantic spot, this is one of the best choices. You can take an audio tour to learn all about the house and even enjoy afternoon tea in the garden.
Beacon Hill Park - East of Douglas Street and South of Southgate
This may be the best park in the city and provides a great play to enjoy the outdoors. It covers 200 acres of hilly land and provides beautiful ocean views. The park is home to a cricket field, a pebble beach, petting zoo, ponds and jogging trails.
Market Square - 560 Johnson Street
If shopping is your thing, this is your place. Market Square is one of the best places for shopping and it will introduce you to some of the history of Victoria. This three-level building has been around since the late 19th century and provides many live festivals throughout the year.
All of these spots will introduce you to another part of Victoria, BC. When you're new to the city, it's good to get to know the main attractions. Start with a few of these and you're sure to find more around the area as you explore.
