An upper-class neighbourhood found in the northeastern part of Oak Bay, the Uplands are the perfect place for new residents. This is a suburb of Victoria and many consider it a garden suburb. A movie from 2007 was filmed in the area called, In the Land of Women, which starred Meg Ryan, Kristen Stewart and Adam Brody.
This seaside village is very popular because of the blend of historic charm and elegant sophistication. A PGA class golf course, yachting facility, beautiful estates, amazing shops and plenty of excellent restaurants are found throughout the area. The Uplands are most known for the landscaped gardens and beautiful historic homes.
As one of the first planned communities in British Columbia, many of the homes provide a look into a different era. They are all well maintained and many are 1900's stately mansions. If you love historic architecture, you will find it here.
Some of the homes found in the Uplands provide large private gardens, wraparound porches and many other luxury features. Views of the sea are common from these homes and the neighbourhood is full of exclusivity. These Victorian mansions have been modernized with plenty of comfort and convenience for today.
Uplands Park
Serving the area and found just off Beach Drive, Uplands Park is the perfect place to spend the day. This is an undeveloped natural area coving over 30 hectares. You can enjoy the best rare plant species throughout the entire country here, along with boat ramps, informal trails, the War Memorial, benches, picnic tables and so much more.
If you're relocating to the Victoria area, you may want to consider a home in this area. However, if you choose another area of the city, a visit to the Uplands area is a must. You will find so much beautiful architecture and landscape here, it's certainly worth a full day trip.
