The Highlands is one of the most sought after rural districts with plenty of lakes and parklands. This area of Victoria is full of beautiful views and natural areas for all to enjoy. If you're relocating to Victoria or the Vancouver Island area, the Highlands should be at the top of your list.

As one of the West Shore municipalities, Highlands is in the same group as Colwood, Metchosin, View Royal and Langford. All of these areas are located to the west of Victoria and are known as Western Communities. Covering the area from Esquimalt Harbour to Rocky Point, these communities are found on the shoreline of the Juan de Fuca Strait.

About 2,100 people live in Highlands, which gives it a small town feel with Victoria just down the road. It's located on the Saanich Peninsula, which is northwest of Victoria and south of Vancouver Island. Some of the many attractions throughout the area include:

  •     The Caleb Pike Homestead
  •     Highlands Market
  •     Highlands Winter Craft Fair - Held in late November
  •     Gowlland Tod Provincial Park
  •     McKenzie Bight
  •     Mount Work Regional Park
  •     Durrance Lake
  •     Fork Lake
  •     Lone Tree Hill Regional Park
  •     Francis/King Regional Park
  •     A Mountain Bike Park
  •     Millstream Highlands
  •     Many Golf Courses
  •     And More!

Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, golfing or any other outdoor sport, you will find it here. Bear Mountain Golf and Country Club is one of the favorites found in Langford, while Victoria offers eight championship courses near the area.

The Gowlland Tod Provincial Park is a protected area with the Gowlland Range. This remains as one of the only natural areas left in the Greater Victoria area. With a natural shoreline and the Tod Inlet, this is a very popular natural area in the Highlands. Plenty of visitors and locals enjoy the best of the park and the rest of the area.
