Bicycling is a great way to get around because it saves money and helps to reduce your carbon footprint. A lot of people in Victoria enjoy traveling this way to save gas money and stop from emitting chemicals into the air. It also is an excellent form of exercise for those who want to be active but aren’t really into the gym.
Since 1995 the current plan in Victoria for bicyclists has helped regulate and improve the cycling experience. A lot has changed in nineteen years so it's time for a more updated plan to come to fruition. The new plan is going to have two phases and here is what the residents of Victoria can expect from the Bicycle Master Plan.
Cycling is Becoming More Popular
Cycling has increased in popularity in the city so one of the main goals of the new plan is to confirm a recommended bicycle network. So many more people are using the bike trails that an update is long overdue.
They also want to make new and better bicycle routes ad find different ways to increase the share of people cycling. They think this will be great for those who are already cycling and encourage more people to do it too.
The First and Second Phase of the Plan
The first phase took place in 2014 and identified issues that might be out there for bicyclists and ways that improvements can be made. They did this by engaging the community in the discussion and finding out what they most wanted to see happening. The second phase, which should be completed by spring of this year, will take all those suggestions and ideas and put them into place.
As you can see, you have a lot to look forward from the Bicycle Master Plan. If you are a resident in Victoria and you like bicycling, this master plan is a good thing for you.
